What a difference a year makes!

I know parents always say, "They grow up so fast!" and yes they do!  When I think back to last summer I can't believe how much Sterling and Hudson have changed in 1 year.

July '09 Sterling was potty training, could have cared less about Hudson, wanted needed help to do things, and had to take his "B's" everywhere.
July '10 Sterling is potty trained, likes Hudson (sometimes), doesn't need help doing lots of things and doesn't really want it either, and it down to 1 "B" that he's been leaving in his bed.  He can write his whole alphabet, including his name, loves animals, to read, to watch movies and to learn.

July '09 Hudson couldn't sit up on his own, was eating baby food, drinking formula out of a bottle and not sleeping through the night!
July '10 this is one big boy!  He's running, eats everything, drinks whole milk from a sippy cup and requires LOTS of sleep.  He sleeps 12 - 13 hours a night and still takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.  Hudson is talking all the time, making animal sounds, is starting to sit still long enough to read a few books, loves dogs, can understand when I ask him to do something, and loves his "B!"

What didn't we do? A Weekend in OKLAHOMA!

Whew!  This past weekend we headed to Oklahoma for a mini vacation and Wade's fraternity's golf tournament. We had a blast and were all exhausted by the time we headed home.  I don't think there was one more thing we could have fit in!

We headed up Wednesday morning and I must stay both boys were excellent in the car!  YAY!  We spent the weekend at the Cunnigham's and just relaxed and hung out by their pool that evening.

On Thursday, the boys and I went to visit the Brighams and Wade played golf.  I cannot tell you how much these boys love Audrey and Blake and they were a huge help.  At point I found myself sitting downstairs, ALONE, and I wasn't quite sure what to do!

Blake played in a golf tournament and didn't get home until later, but we went and had snocones and then they helped the babysitter with the kids while we went to dinner.  Sterling was asleep when we got home and Hudson fell asleep on the ride back to Norman.  They LOVE the Brighams!!

Friday morning the dads played golf (again) and we headed to the OKC Zoo with the Cunninghams and Varners.  The moms had as much fun as the kiddos, especially at the spash park!

Check out those crazy otters!

This is what happens when you don't take the double stroller.  Although, Sterling was great about walking and really didn't complain at all.  This was a lot more fun for him than me though!

Sweet boy fell asleep while checking out the fish!

Brody and Sterling being silly

Hudson woke up before the splash park, and he loved it!
He liked laying in the water, look at his little clothes, they were falling off!

All 5 kiddos after the splash park!  I think Carolina took about 25 pictures and Ilena and I looked like crazy people trying to get this picture!  SUCCESS!!!

After some good naps we headed up to the city for dinner with Wade's fraternity brothers.  There were 10 adults and 6 kids, before long we'll be out numbered!

Bryson, Matt Allen, Ted, Rob, Matt Pollock and Wade

After baths we put Nemo on for the kids and Cooper and Hudson shared Coop's big, red chair. Cooper is 6 months older than Hudson and they play great together!

Saturday morning was the Annual BETA golf tournament.  Before the guys headed out to play golf (again) we went to Ozzie's for breakfast.  I will say I remember the breakfast tasting a lot better in college, but the kids had fun watching the airplanes take off.

Wade has played with the same team for the last few years and they decided to match this year!  Wade, Rob, Matt and Kevin came in 4th place this year

To top off the evening there was a wedding shower for Will (another one of Wade's fraternity brothers) and his fiance Vanessa.  Everyone swam, ate, played and laughed at all of our cute kids!

Lauren Margaret brought her bounce house for the kids to play in

Hudson wanted to thank her!  These 2 stole a few kisses throughout the night!

Hudson had his eye on Meg too!  Lauren and Meg are only a week apart and about 6 weeks older than Hudson...watch out OU!

Dancing the night away!

This was Hudson's fun game he played by himself

1 - You spit out the ice

2 - you pick it up

3 - you put it back in your mouth
And, yes, I allowed him to do this numerous times.  He was happy and having fun!

We've all recovered!  Hudson even slept until 10 Monday morning.  I'd say it was a successful mini vacation to OK!

Hey, Mr. DJ!

My kids LOVE musical instruments.  Sterling got this DJ "booth" for Christmas and he and Sterling both love it.  Hudson really likes to be in control and dances and sings away.

First, you have to plug the microphone in

The mic is not at his mouth, but he doesn't care

Our house gets very loud!

What's Cooking? Almost Lasagna

By no means am I a great cook...or even a good cook, but I can follow a recipe!  The other night I made this, Almost Lasagna!  I found the recipe at www.funnyspoon.com and it did not disappoint.  I love lasagna, but even if you buy the pre-made, frozen kind it still takes at least an hour to heat up.   Here's the recipe

Almost Lasagna
1lb ground beef
1 bag frozen cheese ravioli
1 jar spaghetti sauce
1 cup of Italian shredded cheese

  1. Prepare pasta according to package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, brown ground beef. Add pasta sauce and simmer until heated through.
  3. Pour some sauce mixture in the bottom of a microwave-safe dish. Top with pasta, then add remaining sauce on top of that. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  4. Microwave for 2 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Serve immediately. (I actually baked mine to melt the cheese since the oven was already hot heating up the bread)

I would also recommend the Funny Spoon website for other meals.  It gives pictures of 4 or 5 ingredients they recommend and then you can also search by just ingredients you have!  So great!

If you build it...

They'll knock it down.  Well, once again we found ourselves playing in the kitchen.  I absolutely love these blocks.  Sterling got them for his 1st birthday and now Hudson loves them too.  Ok, Hudson loves for Mommy to build something so he knock it down, but he does love them.  He brings them to me and says, "uh, uh" until I open them.
Sterling was helping too!
But, it's all fun and games, until.....
Poor baby!  Of course, this all lasted less than 30 seconds and then this began!
